Fellowships
|
Going beyond mere financial funding, the fellowship program of the Ernst Schering Foundation supports talented young scientists during their first steps towards a scientific career. Currently, the Ernst Schering Foundation awards the Deutschlandstipendium to students of life sciences at the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin as well as fellowships to outstanding doctoral students in basic research in biology, medicine or chemistry who want to work towards their dissertation at prestigious institutes in Germany and abroad. The fellowship program is very popular: Every year, the Foundation receives some 200 applications. Until the end of 2007, the Foundation also awarded postdoc fellowships and short-term fellowships for young Eastern European scientists. Since it is important to the Ernst Schering Foundation to keep in touch with its fellowship recipients also after the fellowship period, it organizes, every two years, a big fellows meeting in Berlin where current fellowship recipients and alumni have the opportunity to look beyond their own disciplinary boundaries and become part of an ever-increasing network of talented young researchers. |
