The following criteria are application requirements for a doctoral fellowship of the Ernst Schering Foundation:
- At the time of application, the applicant must have a university degree that qualifies him/her to pursue a doctorate.
- The applicant graduated with excellent grades.
- The degree must have been completed no longer than two years before the time of application.
- The dissertation work will focus on topics in basic research in biology, medicine or bio-organic chemistry (or any overlapping or neighboring disciplines such as biophysics and bioinformatics).
- We do not support projects with the goal of carrying out clinical studies.
- The applicant should not yet have started his/her research project at time of the application deadline.
Fellowships are awarded irrespective of the applicant’s nationality and the country where the project will be pursued. The dissertation project can be carried out at a university or institute of the applicant’s choice.
