Im Jahr 2008 startete die Schering Stiftung eine Kooperation mit dem Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin. Deren Ziel ist der Aufbau einer stiftungseigenen Sammlung an Arbeiten auf Papier, die dauerhaft am Kupferstichkabinett verbleibt. Ein wesentlicher Gedanke der Kooperation besteht darin, das Kupferstichkabinett als Ort internationaler zeitgenössischer Zeichenkunst durch gezielte Erwerbungen zu stärken.

Die Ausstellung „System und Sinnlichkeit“ vereint alle bisher erworbenen Zeichnungen der Schering Stiftung. Diese werden erstmals öffentlich präsentiert und in einen Diskurs mit ausgewählten Arbeiten aus dem Bestand des Berliner Kupferstichkabinetts gebracht.

On January 24 at 7 pm the new exhibition Fischen lauschen. Beginning of Data Transmission from the Arctic Sea (Listening to Fishes) by Hannes Rickli will open at the project space of the Ernst Schering Foundation. The Zürich-based Swiss artist presents an experimental installation and a pilot project in the field of artistic research on the development of aesthetic strategies in scientific practice. The audiovisual installation is based on audified data of computer processes and live transmitted as well as archived video images of a behavioral biology research station on Spitzbergen.

The Ernst Schering Foundation awards the Ernst Schering Preis 2013 to virologist Prof. Dr. Frank Kirchhoff, director of the Institute of Molecular Virology at the Ulm University Medical Center. Kirchhoff receives the 50,000-euro prize for his pioneering research on the pathogenesis of the immunodeficiency disease AIDS and especially for his groundbreaking insights into the evolution of the HI virus. His studies on the lentiviral Nef protein, a key cell manipulator of the HI virus, have contributed to our understanding of the pathogenesis of HIV/AIDS. Current insights on natural amplifiers of HIV infection open up new approaches to prevention. The award ceremony will take place on September 23, 2013 at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin.

Seit 2002 engagiert sich die Berliner Stiftung für den Dialog von Wissenschaft, Kunst und Gesellschaft und fördert mit über 1 Mio. Euro jährlich Stipendiaten und Projekte in den Lebenswissenschaften und der zeitgenössischen Kunst und Kultur. Wer hätte bei der Gründung der Schering Stiftung durch den Vorstand der Schering AG gedacht, dass die Stiftung im zehnten Jahr ihres Bestehens die einzige Institution weltweit ist, die den Namen Schering weiterführt und an das traditionsreiche Berliner Unternehmen erinnert? Nach Übernahme der Schering AG durch die Bayer AG im Jahr 2006 konnte sich die gemeinnützige Stiftung privaten Rechts mit einem Stiftungskapital von 35 Mio. Euro weiter unabhängig entwickeln. Mit dem Namen Schering ist für die Stiftung gemäß ihrer Satzung ein Bekenntnis zur Förderung von Kreativität und Forschung sowie zum Kultur- und Wissenschaftsstandort Berlin verbunden.

On June 2, 2010, the German Museum of Technology in Berlin opens the new exhibition "PILLS AND PIPETTES - The Chemical-Pharmaceutical Industry, Using the Example of Schering". The exhibition is a collaborative project of the Ernst Schering Foundation and the German Museum of Technology in Berlin. Covering an area of 400 square meters, the exhibition provides both teens and adults with comprehensive insights into the industry, using as an example the former chemical and pharmaceutical company Schering AG.
