"Women" by Sasha Waltz

19.07.2017, Berlin | As part of the contemporary dance festival “Tanz im August” (Dance in August), “Women,” the latest performance by Sasha Waltz & Guests, premieres on August 30, 2017, at 8 p.m., at St. Elisabeth Church. On this night, and the three following nights, until September 2, twenty female dancers engage in rituals of femininity and explore the feminine body images associated with them.

Alfred Kerr Acting Prize

22.05.2017, Berlin | On Sunday, May 21, 2017, the Haus der Berliner Festspiele hosted the annual award ceremony of the Alfred Kerr Acting Prize. Established by Judith and Michael Kerr, the 5,000-euro prize has been awarded since 1991 as part of the Berliner Theatertreffen. On the occasion of Alfred Kerr’s 150th birthday, this year’s award ceremony featured a special program: the dramatist and essayist Moritz Rinke has written a playlet, which premiered in a reading by Ulrich Matthes and Gerd Wameling.

23.05.2016, Berlin | "Capturing Dance – dance documentation as artistic practice" sheds new light for the first time in the field of dance on an artistic approach to dance documentation. Since June last year, students from the InterCity University for Dance Berlin and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne as well as colleagues from the professional dance world have been artistically examining and illuminating the interdependence between choreography, performance and documentation. June 24, 2016, 7 pm, sees the premiere of the film "Concrete Park", which brings together the results of the year-long artistic research project and will be presented in the context of an installation.

CAPTURING DANCE - Dance Documentation as Artistic Practice

23.09.2015, Berlin | The project "Capturing Dance – Dance Documentation as Artistic Practice" for the first time puts an artistic and therefore new focus on dance documentation, collaborating with a new generation of artists in Berlin and Cologne. A symposium on October 16 and 17, 2015, a lab (in early 2016) and an exhibition (in June 2016) will provide students from the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT) and the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) as well as professional practitioners with opportunities to explore the fluid relationship between choreography, performance, and documentation.

26.08.2015, Berlin | There is a war in Ukraine. For many people, especially abroad, it is a global conflict between the East and the West. But for Ukrainians, this conflict is not abstractly global, but very concrete: it is an integral part of their everyday life. As part of a theatre and performance festival, the project “¡Everything is Different?” by Peter Schwarz, this year’s winner of the “” (Culture in competition organized by the Ernst Schering Foundation and MitOst e.V., wants to reflect on the conflict and to give the affected people a voice.
